How to create staff members in Ghost
Need to create a bunch of contributors? I wrote a thing.
I'm just about to launch a publisher who publishes quarterly issues of a dozen or so posts, organized into issues. Which is well... interesting to support with a Ghost theme. This particular publisher has content back to 1980. Wow.
But that's not the topic of this post. Nope. This post is about the fact that they're at 1400 contributors and counting, and I realized while updating their import that they needed a tool for adding contributors. So, introducing...
The Ghost Staff Writer
This tool generates a Ghost import file containing any number of staff members, ready to import to your Ghost site. If you have one-off contributors who don't actually need Ghost access, but you need to be able to assign them as the authors of your content, this is the tool for you.
I've added social media links, profile images, and it'll create a separate page for each author, if you have a theme that needs that. (Sometimes this is a thing I build for clients.)
Right now, I just generate an export file that you can import. Another option would be for you to provide your site's API key and to do the import directly for you. I didn't go there today, since pasting your API key is probably as much of a pain as uploading the file export.
